On Tuesday 23rd June at The Lodge of Dawn 6511, Worshipful Master Dave Jackson conducted his third and final Third Degree ceremony of the Masonic year 2025/26. Bro. Luke Gregg was dutifully raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.
Third Degree Match Report
The lodge field was set for a memorable Third Degree ceremony, with temperatures reaching a sweltering 30+°C. Despite the heat, the atmosphere remained focused and energetic from the opening whistle to the final charge.
Worshipful Master Dave Jackson proved an astute manager, guiding his team with confidence and ensuring every phase of the ceremony flowed seamlessly. The candidate, making his debut as Freemasonry’s newest player, rose to the occasion and completed an impressive first appearance to earn his place in the squad as a Master Mason.
W Bro Nigel Ziff and W Bro Simon Fellerman were undoubtedly the star strikers of the evening. W Bro Ziff delivered the Exaltation and Charge effortlessly whilst W Bro Fellerman explained the Traditional History, 3rd Degree Tracing Board, and Extended Signs, with precision, passion and impeccable timing. Their performance was worthy of a standing ovation and will be remembered as one of the highlights of the ceremony. Mopped brows and small hydration breaks enabled our strikers to maintain focus, keep to their game plan and score a wonderful hat trick to delight the crowd.
W Bro Michael Marks then stepped up to faultlessly deliver an extended explanation of the Master Mason’s Apron , calmly finding the back of the net with every word. His polished delivery capped an outstanding team performance.
With minutes to go, W Bro Diamond was excused in order to ensure the Festive Board was ready for a thirsty and hungry crowd!
As the final whistle blew, the Worshipful Master could reflect on a well-drilled team performance, every brother playing his part. The newest Master Mason left the lodge having enjoyed an unforgettable debut, while the brethren celebrated a ceremony that demonstrated excellent teamwork, superb leadership and a result worthy of the Masonic league table.
Festive Board
With several players taking an early bath to watch England draw 0-0 with Ghana in the World Cup groups stage, some of us clearly made the better choice and stayed for a delicious and enjoyable Festive Board. The catering at Castle Grove has improved substantially over recent months and the future feels more like premier league than division two.
W Master Dave Jackson thanked all those present for the support he has received in his year in the Chair.
So, after a very warm evening, a superb performance by our senior team and wonderful refreshments, we bid farewell. With our meeting next month, where we host the Yorkshire Rose Light Blue Club Royal Arch launch, we are now preparing to bidding farewell to this Masonic Year.
