On Tuesday April 25th the Lodge of Dawn, 6511, saw Bro. Peter Gawtry become a Fellowcraft Freemason. Of course, ritual was up to a high standard and all who took part delivered a fine ceremony. Bro. Gawtry will no doubt have already started learning his next set of questions. This was our third Second Degree ceremony of the year with a busy autumn ahead for our new candidates.
We were all treated to W Bro Stephen Brown’s superb explanation of the Second Degree Tracing Board. His stylish performance of memory, knowledge and wit was a real joy for all in attendance, and was the icing on the cake of an evening of very polished ritual. In his own words he wished to keep us all awake and he managed it with some ease.
In addition to our 62 members in attendance, we had 12 visitors from 11 lodges.
It’s always so wonderful to receive a goodly number of visitors and always makes for a lively festive board.
W Bro. Nigel Ziff, Provincial Grand Standard Bearer, welcomed all visitors. W Bro Derek Radcliffe, the Provincial Grand Sword Bearer, responded for the visitors and, in addition to his delectations, applauded the high standards of the evening’s ritual, much to the pleasure in particular of all those taking part.
The Festive Board raised £200 for charity with our usual raffle, of which £15 was collected via our new QR Code system. This new QR system does mean that we are increasing our donations by approximately 10% every month.
All in all, it was a delightful evening.
