Second annual New & Young Masons Night

A report on the Second annual New & Young Masons Night

Following the success of last year’s event, The Lodge of Dawn held the second hosting of their New & Young Mason’s night this week, which has now become an annual event in the masonic calendar.

With an open invitation to all, and in association with Leeds Light Blues, the aim of the event is to give new and junior masons the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation from other lodges from around the Province, and even further afield.

Thus Tuesday 23rd January 2024 saw 20 new & young junior masons, from 17 difference lodges in attendance (an almost a 50% increase in last year’s attendance). Along with more than 50 others, the guests experienced an expertly-delivered Second Degree ceremony, as well as a fascinating talk by W Bro. Tony Harvey PJGD (below), Prestonian 2012 lecturer, on the topic ‘Freemasonry; the next generation’.

After the ceremony the atmosphere at the festive board was particularly good, encouraged by a table plan that ensured that everyone was sitting with someone they hadn’t met before.

“I really enjoyed last night – excellent ceremony and met some great people.”

“Well what can I say 🤷!!! A fantastic time was had by yours truly.”

“Was a fantastic ceremony and I met three people at the festive board; was good to chat to new people with no prior links to Dawn from Leeds, Wakefield and Nottingham. Well done to all who took part and all the organisers.”

Following the success of the second annual New & Young Masons Night, we’ll be doing it all again in January 2025 for a third time !!
