2 x 50 + 1 (the Masonic ‘Circle of Life’)

The November 2021 meeting of The Lodge of Dawn at Castle Grove was notable for a number of reasons.

Firstly we delighted to be able to present not one, but two, 50 year certificates to long-standing brethren.

Bro. David Goldsborough was ‘virtually’ presented with his 50 year certificate back in October 2020 in the midst of lockdown (see here) during a Zoom lodge, but last night was the Lodge’s first opportunity to mark the achievement in person.

W Bro. Geoff Caplan PPSGD, who was Master of the Lodge 1998/99, was also presented with his 50 year certificate. His presentation was delivered by his close friend W Bro. Nevil Tolkin PPGReg who told the assembled brethren all about W Bro. Caplan’s extensive masonic and impressive civil career. The Lodge is very fortunate to have such wonderful brethren.

At the other end of the masonic journey, we were delighted to initiate Bro. Eoin Byrne.

Bro. Eoin (picture above with WM Christian Higgins), has the distinction of being the first ever initiate of The Lodge of Dawn to have been recruited through the Lodge’s social media channels.

The Lodge of Dawn was also delighted to host representatives of the Leeds Light Blues Club for new masons and, at a wonderful Festive Board, the charity raffle collected a fantastic £315 for Kevin Sinfield’s #ExtraMile 101miles challenge.

Charitable giving is a key part of masonic life. You can read more about The Lodge of Dawn’s charitable activity here.
