Finally, the Junior Masters Night Festive Board

Festive Boards are always welcome after work in the Temple, but the FB following Junior Master’s Night three weeks ago unfortunately had to be cancelled at the last minute due to a gas leak. See here if you didn’t hear the story!

Therefore Tuesday 7th June was special because we were finally able to hold our Junior Master’s Night Festive Board, three weeks after the event. The venue, as per the original plan was Giorgio’s restaurant in Headingley. With excellent food, good wines, beer and prosecco, backed up by first-class service, everyone enjoyed the evening to the full.

As is the norm formal toasts were made, and speeches delivered. After the formal toasts, Bro. Ed Marks (always witty and entertaining) proposed the toast to the visitors, and our latest joining member, W Bro. Derek Sendrove, responded in kind, debating whether he was indeed qualified as a visitor as he was officially a visitor during the original JMN but has joined The Lodge of Dawn as a member since.

W Bro. John Lyons proposed the toast to the Junior Worshipful Master, which was particularly apposite as he was the proposer for the JWM 13 years ago when he first joined The Lodge of Dawn. His praise and familiar fondness shone through, and the JWM thanked him effusively, whose theme was the endurance of friendships old and new, connected with the Lodge.

All in all, it was a fine end to this year’s Junior Master’s Night and the retiring collection plus the raffle, plus additional donations totalled £400, which will be split between the UGLE Ukraine appeal and the Leeds Jewish Welfare Board.
