Ladies Night, Second Degree and Fantastic Food

Oh What a Night

On Tuesday March 24th The Lodge of Dawn lead by WM Dave Jackson met for the third Second Degree ceremony of the year. Bro Chris Weightman was passed. One particular highlight of proceedings was W Bro Howard Bott’s fascinating delivery of the Second Degree Tracing Board which duly captivated some 40 brethren present. The ritual was of its usual high standard.

We then moved on to a particularly lively and enjoyable Festive Board. As it was Ladies’ Night, we were delighted to be joined by 30 partners, which added greatly to the convivial atmosphere of the evening.

Among the evening’s proceedings, we were rigorously tested on our musical knowledge by Bro. Andrew Ullmann. He challenged us with a series of introductory snippets in a lively round of “Name That Tune,” inviting guests to identify the songs from their opening bars. This was followed by a round of classical music questions—certainly a true test for any aspiring music boffin.

All was undertaken in good humour, and while the competition was friendly, the standard proved impressively high. In the end, the winning team achieved an excellent score of 34 out of a possible 40.

At the Festive Board we also had a prospective candidate and his partner join us. What a lovely evening to be introduced to the Lodge of Dawn. We are sure to have made a great impression!

Seventy is a considerable number for dining and our new caterers served an excellent three course dinner. Notably, the roast beef and sea bream were beautifully presented.

We raised £255 from our raffle in favour of the 2028 Festival. Prizes included, easter eggs, real eggs and whisky. Top prize, however, was a box of matzah! Bro Casdan was the lucky winner.

Shown here is a gallery of some of our brethren, friends and partners.

A good time had by all.
